Deborah Kirby is a woman dedicated to enhancing life through the
art of theater. She is a professional actress, director and teacher.
As a professional actress, Deborah has appeared in plays and musicals
throughout the U.S. She was a founding company member of MoonWater
Theatre Company in Fort Worth, TX, and a company member of Charter
Theatre in Washington, D.C. She has also been in the acting company
at the Shenandoah International Playwrights Retreat and has been
in new play readings at Charter Theatre, Washington Shakespeare
Company, and Signature Theatre in the D.C. area. She has directed Everyman,
Private Eyes, Manicure and Monuments, and Bartleby, as well as performed
in The Colorado Catechism and The Boys Next Door for Journeymen. A few additional acting credits include: Medea in Medea, Maggie in Dancing at Lughnasa, Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Mistress Quickly in Henry the Fifth, Lenny in Crimes of the Heart, Mame in Auntie Mame, Sheila in The Boys Next Door, Widow Corney in Oliver!, Queen Aggravain in Once Upon a Mattress, Jaques in As
You Like It, Anna in Old Times, Dora in The Swan,
and Cookie in Rumors. Her directing credits include: Once
Upon A Mattress, Black Comedy, The Private Ear and the Public Eye, and Midsummer Night's Dream. She also performs a one-woman show, Through Their Eyes, on stages and in churches across the country. Deborah created and performed an interactive play for Young Audiences of Greater Dallas and was commissioned by St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas, TX, to write and perform a one-woman show about the life of Maria Montessori. She studied dance for more than 15 years and has performed both nationally and internationally
in college and church choirs. She holds Bachelor degrees in Sociology
from Baylor University and Theater/Communications from Calvin College as well as her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from Purdue University.
