Andy BrownsteinAndy considers himself fortunate beyond words to have found an artistic home at Journeymen, where he has performed in An Experiment with an Air Pump (Fenwick/Tom), The Christmas Foundling (Moscow), and Breadhouse for the 2007 DC Capital Fringe Festival.  In 2007, Andy won  the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of would-be Nixon killer Sam Byck in Signature Theatre’s Assassins, directed by Joe Calarco.  AfterAssassins, he performed the role of Lou in the Charles MacArthur-winning new play Short Order Stories at Charter Theatre, also directed by Calarco.  Other DC productions include Behold! at Rorschach Theatre (Bert), To Kill a Mockingbird at Firebelly Productions (Atticus Finch), and One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest at Port City Playhouse (Chief Bromden).  A Philadelphia native, Andy graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in English and Journalism. By day, he works as an education reporter and editor. His articles have appeared in publications ranging from the Chronicle of Higher Education to The Washington Post.
